Rilis Distribusi : TinyME 2008.0

Versi stabil pertama dari TinyMe, distribusi minimalis berbasis PCLinuxOS yang didesain untuk komputer tua telah dirilis, mengutip dari pengumuman rilis :

“TinyMe
2008.0 has been released! TinyMe is a PCLinuxOS-based distribution,
which is targeted at older computers and people who want a very light
and fast desktop environment. Although TinyMe comes as a small, 200 MB
ISO image, it provides tools for most everyday wants and needs: AbiWord
word processor; Opera web browser; Audacious media player; GThumb photo
viewer and digital camera application; Asunder CD ripper; easy-to use
Control Centers which make customizing the system and desktop look and
feel a snap; Sylpheed e-mail client; ePDFView, a PDF viewer; SciTE text
editor. TinyMe’s desktop environment consists of Openbox for the window
manager, LXPanel for the panel, Nitrogen sets the wallpaper, and iDesk

Rilis Distribusi : Elive 0.5

Setelah melalui masa pengembangan beberapa bulan, versi stabil baru Elive telah dirilis. dinamai “Revolution”, versi update distribusi ini yang menyuguhkan desktop Enlightenment terbaru datang dengan beberapa fitur baru berikut : “Menggunakan Dsslive untuk mode Live CD; Kartu ATI bekerja kembali dengan akselerasi 3D; auto-launcher untuk USB sticks, DVD movies, audio CDs dan Windows CDs; perangkat lengkap untuk setting refresh rate kartu grafis dengan benar; audio manager untuk setting program audio menggunakan ALSA atau ESD; kernel 2.6.15 dengan berbagai driver dan modul wireless; installer menawarkan upgrade dari sistem Elive lama; dua tampilan berbeda untuk kedua sistem Elive ….” baca keseluruhan pengumuman rilis untuk lebih detailnya, kemudian kunjungi halaman screenshot untuk melihat Elive 0.5. Rilis Distribusi : Berry Linux 0.74

Yuichiro Nakada mengumumkan versi baru Berry Linux, Distribusi Live CD yang berbasis Fedora dan berorientasi desktop yang mendukung baik Bahasa Jepang maupun Inggris. Mengacu pada changelog, Berry Linux 0.74 dirilis dengan perubahan sebagai berikut : beberapa aplikasi populer telah diupgrade, termasuk Firefox dan Thunderbird 1.5.0.7 (Baik edisi jepang maupun inggris); GIMP 2.2.13; WINE 0.9.21 dan NdisWrapper 1.23; ditambahkan Audacious 1.1.2, sebuah media player free software untuk Linux (sebuah fork dari Beep media player); menghapus Beep, XDirectFB dan K3b. versi ini menggunakan kernel linux 2.6.17.11 dengan SMP, ndev/udev dan patch-patch bootsplash, dan memasukkan versi stabil Desktop KDE yang terakhir, yaitu version 3.5.4. Rilis Distribusi : BeleniX 0.5

Live CD berbasis OpenSOlaris BeleniX telah diupdate menjadi versi 0.5: “A new release of BeleniX is available after some delay. This brings in several new features and software upgrades with more upgrades coming soon. As what happens with most deadlines, the plan to implement packaging based on Pkgsrc has been pushed back a little, but it is being definitely worked on. Rilis Pengembangan : KANOTIX 2006-01 RC3

Kandidat Rilis ketiga KANOTIX 2006-01 telah keluar : “Kano has just released KANOTIX-2006-01-RC3. Improvements from RC2: has the newest X.Org 7.1; has the newest version of ntfs-3g; the bug in the installer by acritox has been fixed; UTF-8 is enabled by default; new my-pppoeconf script; boot splash now works by default. Rilis Distribusi : Linux XP 2006 SR2

Linux XP merpakan distribusi berbasis fedora yang mudah digunakan oleh pemula, yang memiliki tampilan mirip Microsoft Windows XP. Versi update dengan dukungan bahasa Inggris telah dirilis. banyak fitur baru dirilis ini termasuk didalamnya : network manajer eksperimental, dialog sistem informasi, Integrasi dengan Active Directory milik Microsoft, dialog update sistem, dan upgrade beberapa aplikasi utama. Distribution Release: CentOS 4.4

Johnny Hughes has announced the availability of a fourth update to CentOS 4 series, a Linux distribution built from source RPM packages for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4: “The CentOS development team is pleased to announce the release of CentOS 4.4 for i386 and x86_64. This release corresponds to the upstream vendor U4 release together with updates through August 26th, 2006. The Live CD edition (1 CD-ROM) is available for i386. Major changes for this version are: Mozilla has been replaced by SeaMonkey, Ethereal has been replaced by Wireshark. Firefox and Thunderbird have moved to 1.5.x versions, OpenOffice.org has moved from to the 1.1.5 version.” For more information please see the release announcement and release notes. Distribution Releases: Fedora Core 5/6 Live CD/DVD

Robert Jensen has announced the availability of a new set of Fedora Core live CDs and DVDs. Called “Live-Spins” and created with a tool called Kadischi, the new Fedora live CD/DVD images allow users to test the distribution without having to install it to their hard disks. Fedora Unity has released the Live-Spins for both the current stable version (Fedora Core 5) and the latest development build (Fedora Core 6 Test 2). More information can be found in the release announcement. The live CD/DVD images can be downloaded via BitTorrent; here are quick links to the two live CD torrent files: FC-5-i386-LiveCD-Unity-20060821 (653MB), FC-6T2-i386-LiveCD-Unity-20060823.torrent (661MB). The new Fedora live CD and DVD images are only available for the i386 architecture.
